    About the book: year / Russian writer and memoirist Lydia Alekseevna Avilova (nee Strakhova) was born on June 3 (15), 1864 in the Klekotki estate of the Epifansky district of the Tula province, in a poor noble family. In 1882 she graduated from high school in Moscow. In 1887, she got married and moved from Moscow to St. Petersburg, where her literary activity began. In the house of the editor and publisher of the Petersburg newspaper S.N. Khudekova, her sister’s husband, met many famous writers. Since 1890, the writer's stories have been published in St. Petersburg newspapers and magazines. In 1896, the first collection of L.A. was published. Avilova "Lucky Man and Other Stories". In 189S, the first story by L.A. was published in the magazine “Russian Wealth”. Avilova “Heirs”, then other stories. In 1906, she moved with her family to Moscow, where her new books “Power and Other Stories” (1906), “Son. A Story" (1910), "The First Sorrow and Other Stories" (1913), "The Human Image" (1914), "Lush Life. Kamardin" (1918). In 1922, Avilova went to Czechoslovakia to visit her sick daughter, there, in the atmosphere of Russian emigration, she realized to the depths of her soul her love for her homeland and wrote in one of her letters: that “if there were no Russia, then I wouldn’t exist either.” In 1924 she returned to Russia.
